From July 2, 2013 to July 5, 2013, Beijing Anti-Tuberculosis Association and Beijing Tuberculosis Control and Research Institute held a national-level continuing education project-‘2013 Training on Monitoring and Managing of Tuberculosis Epidemic Situation in School’ in Beijing Convention Center, in order to share practical experience on prevention and control of tuberculosis in school, promote communication among relevant organizations, and improve standards of prevention and control of tuberculosis in school. Eighty professionals from anti-tuberculosis institutions and school hospitals of 11 provinces participated in the training.
The training began with cases of handling epidemic situation, and focused on theoretical knowledge and practical skills including : a) monitoring symptom of tuberculosis epidemic situation in School; b) investigating and checking symptom of tuberculosis epidemic situation; c) diagnosing cases of epidemic situation; d) screening close contacts; e) managing medical record of tuberculosis; f) preventing and controlling secondary cases; and, g) health education; h) organization and management of handling of epidemic situation. Famous experts and professors from National Center for tuberculosis control and Prevention, Beijing Thoracic Hospital, Beijing Tuberculosis Control and Research Institute, and Peking Union Medical College Hospital are invited to give lessons, responsible staff from Anti-Tuberculosis Association of Haidian District and Anti-Tuberculosis Association from Changping District introduced their experience on monitoring and investigation of tuberculosis epidemic situation in school, and organization and management of tuberculosis control in school.
Evaluation of the training showed, most trainees considered courses of the training were reasonably designed, organization of the training was orderly, trainers were professional and experienced, and the training obtained a good effect. Through the training, trainees learned how to monitor, investigate and handle tuberculosis in school, as well as important sessions and attentions of tuberculosis in school, which would play an important role in anti-tuberculosis in school.
