On December 17, Secretary of Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST and her colleagues paid a consolatory visit to the honorary president of BAST academician Gu Binglin, in company with member of Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice President of BAST Tian Wen. 

Shen Jie asked academician Gu Binglin about his physical, living and work conditions in detail, thanked him for his contributions to the cause of BAST and cultivation of S&T personnel during his service as the 7th and 8th president of BAST, and expressed admirations for his all-out efforts of construction of scientific morality and study stile, science popularization and cultivation of S&T personnel during his tenure as honorary president.  

Shen Jie introduced to academician Gu how BAST advances “digitalization of BAST”, spread of scientist spirit, science popularization and “dual advancement” in support of “dual reduction”, before briefly informing him of preparations for the 10th congress of BAST. Academician Gu is a banner of BAST, and Shen JIe sincerely expected that academician Gu could keep concerned about and participate in the work of BAST, sincerely inviting him to attend the 10th congress of BAST. 

Academician Gu affectionately reviewed his history of education, scientific research and participation in the work of BAST, showed visitors around his office space, narrated the history of old scientists keeping working for the sake of the country, and expressed his desire to care about and support the work of BAST and contribute to the further development of BAST as always. 

Related officers of Haidian District Association for Science and Technology, General Office of BAST and Tsinghua University Association for Science and Technology accompanied Shen Jie during the visit.
