On January 28, Secretary of Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST Shen Jie and Executive Vice President SIMA Hong led a team to visit China Association for the Promotion of Industrial Development (“CAPID”) for a field survey and panel discussion. Executive Vice President of CAPID and former Deputy Secretary General of NDRC Meng Xiangyue, Vice President of CAPID and President & Secretary General of Industrial Innovation Clusters Li Xiaojun, Counselor of the State Council and former Director General of the Energy Bureau of NDRC Xu Dingming, and member of Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice President of BAST Liu Xiaokan took part in the panel discussion. 

Meng Xiangyue made opening remarks, warmly welcoming the visiting delegation from BAST. He pointed out that CAPID seriously carries out national economic policies and industrial development strategies, always serves government decision-making, paves ways for corporate development, plays a role as a communication platform and ties and facilitates industrial development. He expressed expectations for further communication and cooperation with BAST to contribute to socioeconomic development of the capital by making full use of respective advantages. 

At the meeting, Li Xiaojun and Liu Xiaokan introduced work details of CAPID and BAST respectively. Xu Dingming made a special speech on digital economy, before New-type Biomedical Industry Branch of CAPID, Ziggurat, Digitwin Tech and the project team of documentary Digital Innovation China introduced related work details respectively. Both sides engaged in a deep discussion regarding linking resources, high-quality decision consulting and empowering socioeconomic development of the capital, before reaching an agreement on strategic cooperation. 

SIMA Hong said CAPID has a large pool of expert and corporate resources and both sides could engage in extensive cooperation on innovative development, sci-tech personnel, academics, science popularization and think tanks. BAST will make every effort to support and cooperate with CAPID’s activities related to the documentary Digital Innovation China to demonstrate the results of digital economy in Beijing and contribute strengths of BAST to building Beijing into a global iconic city of digital economy. 

Shen Jie pointed out BAST will make full use of flexible organizational advantages, match CAPID’s needs with BAST’s resources, provide targeted services to CAPID and greatly support CAPID to better serve the industrial development in the country. BAST expected to take this opportunity to establish cooperative relationships, broaden the organizational boundaries of BAST and link up with central resources to serve the high-quality development of the capital’s economy and society. She hoped that CAPID and BAST would exploit respective advantages to jointly build up think tanks, endeavor to form a batch of decision consulting achievements that are pertinent, in-depth and influential, drive members of CAPID to establish association for science and technology as a bridge and tie for contacting and serving S&T workers, unite and lead S&T workers of companies to focus on corporate core and key technologies for technological breakthroughs, cultivate S&T personnel and empower companies to grow.  

Meng Xiangyue said the cooperation between BAST and CAPID is a new way of cooperation. He expected both sides to establish a deep, extensive and lasting cooperative relationship to jointly contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development and “do good, practical and much-needed things” for technical innovation, product marketing and talent cultivation efforts of companies. 

Both sides agreed that CAPID would visit BAST after this year’s Spring Festival for inspection and guidance and both sides would sign a strategic cooperation agreement for subsequent deep cooperation. 

Main officers of the Department for Personnel Affairs, Department for Science and Technology Popularization and Innovation Service Center of BAST, and related staff members of the Industrial Innovation Clusters Branch and New-type Biomedical Industry Branch of CAPID and the documentary “Digital Innovation China” took part in the panel discussion.
