On January 29, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST Shen Jie and her colleagues visited the Department of International Affairs of CAST (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) for a panel discussion. Luo Hui, member of Leading Party Members’ Group of CAST, head (director) of Department of International Affairs (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) and Director of China Center for International Science and Technology Exchange, deputy head (deputy director) He Wei and member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice President of BAST Tian Wen took part in the discussion. 

At the discussion meeting, both sides engaged in deep exchanges about promoting international mutual recognition of engineer qualifications, participating in the construction of China-foreign scientific, technological and cultural exchange mechanism of CAST and conducting summer break internship activities of college students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and work on international scientific and technological organizations. Department of International Affairs (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) of CAST introduced the progress of the aforesaid related activities and work plans, expecting to strengthen interaction and collaboration between CAST and BAST. 

Shen Jie said the Department of International Affairs (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) of CAST had given plenty of guidance and help to BAST on related work over the past years, and that BAST will actively fulfill its duties, carry out various assignments and ensure its work yield fruits according to overall arrangements made by CAST. BAST will play its role as an important channel for external scientific and technological exchanges of association for science and technology in international mutual recognition of engineer qualifications, bilateral scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, summer activities of college students and establishment of international scientific and technological organizations, actively get involved in the global S&T innovation network, and jointly promote international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation under the guidance of CAST in support of the construction of Beijing as an international sci-tech innovation center and international exchange center. 

Related officers of the Division of International Organizations and Division of General Management of the Department of International Affairs (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) of CAST, Beijing Science and Technology Center for International Cooperation, Beijing Science Center and Innovation Service Center of BAST took part in the discussion.
