On January 29, BAST held its first monthly work review meeting. Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST Shen Jie chaired the meeting, attended by resident bureau-level leaders, all cadres of organs and cadres of section level or above of public institutions. The General Office, Department for Personnel Affairs, Department for Research and Publicity, Party committee of organs and discipline committee of organs and the Department for Planning and Finance shared supervision and examination results and information, team building, performance management, research and survey and efforts to enforce full and strict Party discipline in 2021. 

The General Office and Comprehensive Service Center made full work reports. Members of Leading Party Members’ Group and vice presidents of BAST Tian Wen and Liu Xiaokan commented on the work of the General Office and Comprehensive Service Center. Yue Hongzhi shared the work arrangements for the “digitalization of BAST” task force in February. 

Executive Vice President SIMA Hong recognized the achievements of the General Office and Comprehensive Service Center and required the General Office to further strengthen overall planning, coordination, supervision and institutional improvement, and to be more proactive and forward-looking at work. The Comprehensive Service Center is required to strengthen internal management, make proactive efforts, increase its concentricity and cohesion, raise their awareness of proactive service, and make proper overall planning for the “digitalization of BAST” task force. 

 The meeting pointed out that holding the monthly work review meeting is a specific move made by BAST to strengthen implementation surrounding the central work and overall interests and keep objective oriented, advance rectification of identified problems and issues, enhance collaboration and form synergy of work. By aligning with the work arrangements and requirements made by the CPC central committee and the municipal Party committee, BAST needs to pinpoint its role, make targeted efforts and require its departments and units to fulfill their assigned duties seriously and pragmatically, and advance their work in an orderly manner by taking the opportunity brought by the “year of learning, year of work style and year of institution” drive. 

The meeting emphasized the need to make full preparations for the “10th Congress” of BAST and the “digitalization of BAST”, following the approach of big unified front work, big publicity and big data, gather minds and strengths by recommending deputies to the congress, raise the service capabilities and level and expand the influence and reach of BAST. Strengthen the guidance of values through the publicity of the Congress, tell deeds of model scientists and technologists, and carry forward the scientist spirit in the new era. It is also required to intensify interaction with central government agencies, properly provide services and facilitate high-quality resources to gather in Beijing. Deeply understand the thoughts and concerns of S&T workers, resolve practical problems, and create warm, credible, vibrant and productive homes away from home for S&T workers. All departments and units are required to closely combine the preparation for “10th congress” with “digitalization of BAST”, advance the two efforts synchronously, accumulate data and information and improve databases, in a bid to put them into use when the “10th congress” of BAST takes place. 

Shen Jie read out the written instructions from Deputy Mayor Jin Wei regarding the “2022 New Year Science Event Series” and laid down specific requirements for BAST to properly publicize the Beijing winter Olympics and conduct epidemic prevention and control.
