On September 3, the 3rd Beijing Global Health Forum, one of the Beijing international medical forums during the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), was held in Shougang Park. Guests invited to the forum included Shen Hongbing (Academician and Deputy Director of the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, and Director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention), Zhong Dongbo (Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Municipal Health Commission), Shen Jie (Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group of Beijing Association for Science and Technology, BAST) and Guo Lugang (Vice President of BAST).

In her speech, Shen Jie noted that the repeated occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide highlights the importance of global health. This forum brings together representatives from government organs, academic institutions and enterprises to exchange ideas in different sectors, and integrate such knowledge that empowers us to discuss major global public health issues. Addressing these issues is of great significance to improve the capacity to tackle global health threats and bolster confidence to overcome the pandemic.

Shen hoped that the Beijing Association of Preventive Medicine can vigorously promote the scientist spirit, cultivate ethics of science and an excellent academic atmosphere, and build an academic exchange platform for scientists and technologists to provide science popularization services for the public. The wisdom of experts will contribute to the scientific policy-making of the Party and the government. Science and technology will be further aligned with the economy to improve people's living conditions and health, and efforts will be made to contribute more to the building of a community of common health for mankind.

CIFTIS is the first international trade fair of comprehensive services held by China. It provides a vital platform for China to expand open and deep cooperation and act as an innovation leader. BAST attached great importance to CIFTIS and established a special team to support the event by cooperating with the CIFTIS Executive Committee, mobilizing relevant departments to contact social organizations of science and technology, and giving advice on the event’s theme, experts invited and forms. During CIFTIS, BAST and its affiliated institutions held 13 activities, and invited 6 academicians and 27 foreign guests. These 13 activities encompassed 3 main sessions of the forum organized by BAST, 5 main sessions of the forum co-hosted by Beijing science societies and foundations, 3 exhibitions and 2 regular events.
