The first domestic artificial intelligence standardization research institution, the Beijing Artificial Intelligence Standardization Research Institute, was established in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town) on Aug 25.

This pioneering institute will spearhead end-to-end standardization research in areas such as advanced AI technologies, industry scenario applications, and risk prevention and governance. Its primary focus will be on providing foundational support and developing key technologies, with a research scope that encompasses computing power, algorithms, data, and more.

Additionally, it will address potential social governance risks, ethical considerations, and regulatory access issues associated with AI technology's growth, aiming to ensure the safety, reliability, and controllability of artificial intelligence systems.

The institute will prioritize the construction of benchmark application scenarios, addressing common challenges encountered in the AI Plus Initiative. It will strive to produce standards for AI product services and industry applications.

In the robotics sector, the institute plans to establish an open, collaborative, and innovative technological ecosystem. This will involve the continuous iteration and launch of flagship innovative products, addressing shared issues faced by various innovating entities, and promoting the formulation of standards for the intelligent robotics industry.

In the future, it will leverage key scenarios such as robotics and autonomous driving to extend the reach of AI standardization into more vertical industries.
