Beijing Association for Science and Technology (BAST), founded in 1963, is the leading association to promote science, technology and innovation (STI) in Beijing, the capital of China.
Our mission is to establish widespread network and platforms for our members and counterparts to realize sustainable development of society and bring more benefits to people’s wellbeing in the fields of science, technology and innovation.
The authorized representative body of the science and technology community in Beijing;
Managed by the elected Committee who are scientists, researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and policy makers, etc.
OUR MEMBERS ARE:
217 municipal academic societies and foundations in natural sciences;
Primary-level Associations for Science and Technology (ASTs) in:
·16 Districts of Beijing Municipality;
·1017 enterprises, public institutions, and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area;
·28 universities and colleges.
WHAT WE DO:
Develop an inclusive and open platform for science advancement and academic exchanges, especially in cutting-edge strategic areas and fundamental research;
Cultivate an ecosystem for innovation-driven development that takes enterprises as the main body and can significantly enhance the enterprises’ innovation ability;
Highlight hallmarks of Capital Science Communication to improve science education, promote scientific engagement, and increase public awareness and understanding of science;
Provide scientific argumentation and policy consulting as a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC);
Create solid and diverse platforms for human resources in STI to grow and thrive by fostering, nurturing and rewarding scientific talent and outstanding professionals;
Enhance international exchanges and cooperation for common prosperity by developing cooperative relations with STI organizations and personnel worldwide.
