The Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE) signed an agreement with The Institute of Engineers of Malaysia (IEM) for recognition of competency of individual members, and renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Myanmar Engineering Council (MEngC) to strengthen engineering capacity building in Beijing on December 5, 2023.
Both Malaysia and Myanmar are important countries to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Chinese engineering circles deepened exchanges and cooperation with world peers through cooperative engineering projects including Malaysia's east coast railway and China Myanmar Economic Corridor (CMEC).
And it is getting urgent to achieve mutual recognition of engineers' capabilities with both countries.
The documents signed between China and Malaysia and Myanmar focused on deepening practical cooperation between China and the two countries in terms of improving the ability of engineers and promoting the mobility of young engineers.
Implementation measures are expected to take shape soon to provide support to the cultivation of talent for the construction of the BRI.
In particular, the signing of a mutual recognition agreement of individual members with the IEM provided an example of strengthening cooperation in engineering capacity building with other ASEAN countries and creating more convenient conditions for Chinese engineers to start their careers overseas.
At the same time, it indicated that the Chinese engineer competency evaluation system has been recognized by important members of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA), the International Professional Engineering Agreement (IPEA) and the APEC Agreement, which is conducive to China’s application to join the 2 engineering capacity mutual recognition agreements with the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) as national representative.
He Junke, secretary of the leading Party members group of CAST and president of the CSE, Luo Hui, secretary general of the CSE and Prof. Dr. Aung Kyaw Myat, president of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and Pacific (FEIAP) and president of the MEngC, and Ir.
