Cutting-edge innovations on display as high-tech expo opens in Beijing
2026-05-09 | Global Times

The 28th China Beijing International High-tech Expo (CHITEC) opened at the China National Convention Center on May 8, running through May 10. As China’s inaugural large-scale international exhibition for tech exchange and cooperation, CHITEC has been held 27 times since its launch in 1998. It now serves as a key window into China’s cutting-edge sci-tech innovations, a major platform for global industry collaboration, and an important driver for building the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei International Science and Technology Innovation Center. This year’s edition spans about 50,000 square meters and will host more than 800 enterprises and institutions from China and abroad over its three-day run. The expo is designed to be an integrated platform for displays, trade matching, commercialization of research outcomes, and international dialogue. Photos: Li Hao/GT
