In 2023, the total revenue of the science fiction industry in Beijing reached CNY 37.38 billion, representing one-third of China's national total. Resulting from its accelerated growth, Beijing's science fiction industry has achieved an average annual increase rate of revenue of 26 percent in the past three years. An industrial layout characterized by "one core and multiple spots" has taken shape, with the sci-fi industry cluster in Shijingshan District as the "core" and those in Haidian, Chaoyang, Tongzhou, Daxing, Huairou and other districts as the "spots".
So far, over 600 sci-fi enterprises have been established in Beijing, with nearly 200 of them based in Shijingshan. The district has established an equity investment fund for the sci-fi industry with CNY 300 million, which has reserved more than 500 projects and realized their initial investments. In addition to multiple national key laboratories and public technology service platforms, the first sci-fi industrial consortium of China, was founded in Shijingshan, whose number of member entities has grown to 66.
