On June 25, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) held a press conference for its 27th Annual Conference. From July 1 to 31, over a hundred thematic and parallel forums centered on ten major fields will be convened in Beijing. Concurrently, exhibitions including the Historical Evolution of CAST Annual Meetings, the Expert Reports Exhibition at the China Hall of Science and Technology, and the Achievements in Science and Technology Development will be held.

The main forum is scheduled for July 6 at the China Hall of Science and Technology, where the 2025 Major Scientific, Engineering, and Industrial Technology Challenges will be released. This aims to establish a "benchmark" for the sustained generation of original and innovative scientific and technological achievements. Throughout July, 98 thematic forums and 4 parallel forums organized by national societies will take place consecutively in Beijing. These forums will cover ten key areas: fundamental sciences including mathematics, physics, and chemistry; life and health (incorporating medicine); earth sciences (including deep-earth and deep-sea); ecological environment; manufacturing technology; information technology; advanced materials; resources and energy; agricultural science and technology (including food); and aerospace technology.

The 2025 China Science and Technology Journals Development Forum, one of the four parallel forums during the conference, will be held on July 10 at the China Hall of Science and Technology. "The latest Journal Citation Reports indicate that 56 Chinese scientific journals now rank within the top three in their respective international subject categories, with 24 topping their disciplines, reflecting sustained growth in the number of high-impact journals," introduced Wang Su, Deputy Director of the Service Center for Societies of CAST. Science and technology journals bear the crucial mission of promoting academic exchange, originating innovative ideas, and advancing technological progress, serving as a vital component of the national innovation system. This forum will focus on building a "periodical ecosystem" and specifically assess the profound impact of artificial intelligence on scientific journals.

The CAST SCHOLAR service platform will also be officially launched during this forum. Its initial phase will establish a full-text data management system for scientific journals, a Chinese journal editing system, and a clustered journal publishing system, providing services for data submission and management, journal publication, and achievement dissemination and promotion.
