As part of China's first National Science Popularization Month, the 15th Beijing Science Festival took place from September 19 to 21 in Pinggu District.

Jointly organized by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology (BAST) and the Pinggu District People's Government, the event highlighted the theme "Science for the Future, Building a Better Pinggu Together."

This year's gathering emphasized empowering local communities, fostering collaborative networks, highlighting the role of science associations, and showcasing Pinggu's unique regional features. It also tapped into the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei network to promote the co-construction and sharing of high-quality science resources.

The program featured a wide range of activities, including six themed exhibitions, the release of the Pinggu Science Tour Map, a dialogue on science education and talent cultivation, a civic science literacy competition, lecture series, science-themed cultural events in commercial areas, the promotion of popular science books, hands-on science courses, and performances of science plays and shows. The festival was also part of a wider series of science popularization activities in Pinggu, including lectures, competitions, and mobile science exhibits.

A highlight of the event was the six planet-themed exhibitions, featuring Smart Planet, Diligent Planet, Tasty Planet, Beautiful Planet, Cute Baby Planet, and Green Planet. Each zone showcased frontier technologies, modern agriculture, food science, horticulture, the pet economy, and ecological protection, demonstrating how science and technology can drive sustainable development and enrich daily life.

The festival aimed to deliver participatory, interactive, and engaging experiences for the public. By bringing high-quality science education directly to communities, it sought to bridge the urban-rural science service gap, enhance citizens' scientific literacy, stimulate new consumption scenarios, and contribute to the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, while reinforcing Beijing's role as an international hub for science and innovation.
