The 5th Hydrogen Ecosystem International Conference concluded at the Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone in Beijing from October 27-29, 2025.
Hosted by the Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone and the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (IHFCA), with support from the Beijing International Science and Technology Exchange Center(BISTEC), Amerigroup International, and Bank of Beijing Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone Branch, the conference gathered domestic and international experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to promote advancements in hydrogen energy. The event aimed to foster collaboration and innovation to drive the evolution of China's hydrogen sector from initial pilots to more structured development.

Experts share insights during the roundtable session at the 5th Hydrogen Ecosystem International Conference.
The main forum on October 29 featured a dual-track agenda combining domestic practices with international perspectives. The opening commenced with video remarks from Erik Solheim, chairman of the EU-Asia Centre, former under-secretary-general of the UN and former executive director of the UNEP.
Keynote speakers included Peng Suping, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who addressed how pan-hydrogen technologies empower industrial applications, and Liu Jian, Deputy Researcher at the National Development and Reform Commission Energy Research Institute, who outlined hydrogen industry prospects under the 15th Five-Year Plan.
Roundtable discussions explored the transition from demonstration to commercialization, bringing together representatives from organizations including the Zhongguancun Hydrogen Energy Industrial Alliance, Coal Science Research Total Institute, among others.
In the international track, Sun Xingqi, Director of Hyundai Motor HTWO in Guangzhou, and Zhang Yuguang, General Manager of Peric Hydrogen Technologies, shared experiences in hydrogen transportation and international market expansion. Discussions included participants from SINOPEC, Envision Energy, Canadian Ballard, and other organizations addressing supply chain reconstruction and international cooperation.
Major outcomes announced included the launch of the "Belt and Road" Hydrogen Industrial Cooperation Demonstration Zone and Alliance, the establishment of a green hydrogen trading innovation center in collaboration with Chile's Carbonegro Industrial Park, and the inauguration of the nation's first comprehensive hydrogen fuel cell vehicle quality testing center. Strategic partnerships were forged to enhance the full supply chain from production to application. Meanwhile, China Railway 22nd Bureau Group presented plans for a multi-energy industrial project designed for off-grid applications in remote areas, along with the introduction of advanced fuel cell technology by a leading hydrogen company to drive sector innovation.
The IHFCA reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the hydrogen energy sector as a central pillar of global energy transformation.
