The 2025 International Bonding Technology Symposium, a flagship event of the 28th Beijing Academic Exchange Month of Science and Technology, opened with remarkable fanfare in Beijing on November 15. Guided by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology (BAST) and organized by the Beijing Adhesion Society, the event brought together over 200 experts, scholars, industry leaders and enterprise representatives from more than ten countries and regions worldwide.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhang Junying, Vice President of the Beijing Adhesion Society and Chair of the Conference Academic Committee. Distinguished speakers including Professor Zhu Chaoshan, President of the Beijing Adhesion Society; Professor Klaus Dilger of the Institute of Joining and Welding Technology at Braunschweig University of Technology in Germany; Professor Toshiaki Ougizawa, President of the Adhesion Society of Japan; and Professor Kim Hyun-joong of Seoul National University in South Korea delivered opening remarks, setting the intellectual tone for the proceedings.
Themed "Diversified Adhesion, Optimized Innovation, Collaborative Prospects," the symposium focused on cutting-edge breakthroughs in adhesion technology and industrial integration, propelling the global adhesion sector toward greater sustainability, intelligence and sophistication. The event structure strategically integrated three complementary components: plenary sessions featuring frontier research voices, poster exhibitions providing platforms for emerging scholars, and product showcases demonstrating practical applications. This tripartite framework facilitated seamless dialogue between academic innovation and market practice.
Five specialized forums from the plenary session covered pivotal domains—green adhesion, intelligent adhesion, biomedical applications, aerospace applications, electronics, and standards—enabling delegates to engage substantively on theoretical foundations, technical challenges and emerging opportunities.
The poster exhibition proved particularly dynamic, with researchers presenting findings while attendees posed incisive questions. Expert panels ultimately recognized twelve outstanding contributions with prestigious awards. Simultaneously, strategically positioned corporate exhibition booths fostered intensive face-to-face exchanges between scientists and industry players, effectively bridging the gap between laboratory research and commercial application.
As the modern industrial sector faces profound transformation and material innovation accelerates, adhesion technology, hailed as the invisible pillar of contemporary industry, stands at a critical inflection point. The symposium successfully established an open, collaborative international platform that promoted cutting-edge technology sharing and international dialogue, elevated China's adhesion technology standards, and advanced technological innovation and industry-academia integration.
